Who We Are
Coronado High School’s Navy Junior ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps), commonly referred to as “Islander Company” by cadets, students and staff of the high school, was started in September of 2003. It is a class offered at the high school to teach the cadets self-discipline and leadership skills. What is learned in the class is broken up by the years you have been in ROTC. After school cadets are welcome to join teams such as armed and unarmed exhibition, armed and unarmed basic, color guard, PT and academic team all of which compete at drill meets in order to qualify for Super Bowl, the last drill meet of the year where schools that have placed in the top three at “qualifiers” compete to be known as the best of San Diego’s ROTCs.
